It's Monday morning and Gage has Halloween costumes on his mind when we tell him it's time to leave for school. He has eaten breakfast, dressed and is seemingly ready to go.
Or not. Twelve minutes before the bell Gage has a meltdown on our living room floor. "I don't want to go to school today!...please don't make me go!..."
Of course, the first thing to cross mom's mind as her four year old begs and pleads to stay home is that maybe, just maybe, we should have held him back a year. Maybe he's just not ready for kindergarten.
Until. Until his argument continues something like this, "Please, five days of school is too much for a kid. Just let me stay home this one day and then it will only be four days of school."
OK, the kid is using basic mathematics to prove his point. He's not too young, he just wants that damn Star Wars costume...and he wants it NOW.
