Our kids are weird.

And our dog is weird too.
But my video icon is back!

In case you haven't noticed, I've been unable to upload videos to this blog for some time now. Terribly frustrating but clearly it never became a big priority. Until a few days ago when I mentioned it via blog comment to my most useful bloggy friend, Jill, who found the simple solution for me. Ah, it's nice to have motivated friends.

So now my easy peasy link function is gone, and some of the other frilly new features that I'd been enjoying that you probably could care less about, but the video action is back.
Consider yourself warned.

Rise they will. The Mason's Brothers latest album The Sun, the Moon & the Sea with headliner "May You Rise" has arrived on itunes. Exciting to think about what's next!

"The Mason Brothers are indeed just that - James Mason on lead vocals and guitars, Christian Mason on additional guitars and occasional vocals, plus other performers here and there - and on their pleasant debut album The Sun, the Moon and the Sea the duo creates a series of songs that are more or less exactly what they're intended to be, contemplative modern folk with an overt nod back to smoothe 1970's deliveries and country/rock fusion roots. James's singing is often little more than a calm whisper, and if anything that helps place them in the 21st century than the previous one; there's that sense of understated conviction that defines (not always successfully) any number of sensitive-guy singers and bandleaders currently out there. Similarly his playing and that of his brother's is competent and enjoyable, if extremely unsurprising most of the time, though once or twice they do cook up something notable. On "Hands on Fire", the gentle addition of a few simple Rhodes piano notes adds a flowing richness to the performance, making it sound much more epic - thought the actual solo itself, though equally simple, ends up disrupting that mood much less than the full band arrangement at the end. AS that song indicates, they do have a good sense for a sudden twist - the opening "May You Rise" is winning enough but the conclusion, springing a full but not overpowering drum punch on to the listener, helps send it higher. Meantime, the production and sound of "In the Canyon" gives it a good field-recording sensibility - slightly muffled and trebly - without pushing it fully, a careful blend of past and present."

Zuzu has a new favorite song. She's only heard it once but she was riveted by the video and begged for more. I just don't know if "more mushaboom" is going to be as easy to whine as "more no one"!

T.G.I.F & N.E.R.D

It's been a busy week of school, play dates, a haircut, a movie, music, gymnastics, karate, soccer and everything in between. Did I forget to mention that Scott has been out of town so these busy days all started at 5:30 am with one parent? Did I also forget to mention that Scott has been in NYC shooting a music video?

Yup, you read right, a music video. For Pharrell Williams and his group N.E.R.D. The song is called "Everybody Nose". And no, I didn't confuse "knows" with "nose". You can find out why the odd title if you listen to a few sound bites here on youtube. Oh, and if shooting a music video with hot chicks and talented musicians wasn't exciting enough...they were surprised with visits by Lindsay Lohan AND Kanye West both of which ended up with cameos in the video.

Impressed? Not done yet. Apparently there was a huge fight on set the last night of shooting and the crew walked off. They managed to finish the video but the incident garnered press by the likes of MTV. Unreal.

Don't get me wrong. I'm still super excited to be here with my two adorable kids changing diapers, cooking, cleaning, doing laundry...
