I'm not really even sure how I landed on the website of SixxDesign tonight as I immediately became immersed in their world and lost all track of time. Started by a husband and wife design team and named, I suppose, after their six lovely children, these two have some mad skills. Apparently they are quite well known in the design industry and I am a little late to the game but I had to share even still. Happy Friday and I hope your weekend is as delightful as their trampoline!

goodbye sweet friend

Today was Gage's final day at the pre-school he attended for two years. I know he holds many dear memories and will miss his friends and teachers dearly...but today he really just wanted to get home and play his lego star wars video game. I did, however, manage to snap a dozen or so shots before we bolted out of there...



The two pre-K classrooms are actually being renovated this week...just in time. They'll probably be ready to do it again when Zuzu graduates!

catastrophic cartwheels

Today goes down in our family history as the first time that our firstborn had a full-blown, violent, screaming & thrashing tantrum...in public. Not sure anyone is truly interested in this news other than me but I'm gonna archive the experience anyway. Feel free to skim.

The sad thing is, there was no battle waged, nothing taken away, nothing lost. The outrage was Gage's sleep-deprived reaction to a series of cartwheels that did not meet his standards. I think we've got a perfectionist here. Hmmmm, let me think...yeah, he's got that gene.

All I could do was grab him and wrangle him to the ground. Although I couldn't see them, I could tell that the young girls behind The Little Gym counter were quite confused. Gage? Our happy-go-lucky Gage? So unlike him.

This is most definitely an ignorant statement on my part, but in the heat of the moment I truly felt like Gage was having a seizure. Transformed. Completely out of body. He didn't want anything from me or anyone else for that matter. He was just plain mad. Furious. There was no use consoling, joking or diverting attention. I just held on as tight as I knew how and waited.

Of course he came around eventually, as they all do. And, I'm sure this was not the last of the public tantrums. Problem is, that was karate class and he lost it over a cartwheel...what am I going to do with him tomorrow when it's time for gymnastics?

The talented Beth Weintraub did a spectacular job on this one. The way it catches the light and brings the kitchen and dining room together is really more fabulous than even I had imagined. (Grandpa, please note the two large screw holes that remain from the previously hung mirror.)

I am not a fan of those family stickers on the back of the SUV's all over town but somehow these custom made pillows from Branch are different. Silly expensive but oh so cute.

lilies of the nile

Isn't this sweet? It's a series of six 20" x 20" x 4" metal etchings by San Francisco artist Beth Weintraub. She's making one just like it for our dining room. I'm in love.

it's beautiful here

I could get lost in Anthropologie. I just wander around and around and around. Look at this amazing in store display I found today. It's a little tough to get the full effect from a photo but the white hose is pouring water into the top white tea kettle which is filtering water downwards until it cascades out of the tea cups and into the large green bowl.



Not rocket science but refreshing. Maybe it had something to do with the fact that I'd just left a massage and was feeling quite Zen but never the less I was inspired.

Also inspiring were these darling cloth napkins that came home with me. Unfortunately, Zuzu appears to love them as much as I and would prefer them OFF the oven door.

And this is a fabulously unique wall hanging that I admired for quite some time. It was handmade in Cape Town, South Africa. It would have come home with me too but it's quite pricey. Need to secure some space for it in the house before I commit.
